“Tony Anderson and his wife, Tan, own and operate the JAN-PRO Cleaning & Disinfecting business that currently services our VCOM – Carolina’s campus buildings. They were not the 1st janitorial service hired here when we opened our doors back in 2011; they are actually the 3rd janitorial service we have hired (and hopefully the last). I have stayed with this JAN-PRO Cleaning & Disinfecting business because of its people. Tony and Tan are some of the hardest working and caring individuals I have ever met. And by caring, I mean they are serious about providing the best services possible. As our needs grew and we added more buildings to our campus, Tony and Tan’s business grew with us. Tony brought in his brother, Jamie and Jamie’s wife and son to work on this campus. Tony has made a conscious effort to keep his business in the hands of family members because he can trust his family to have (and understand the importance of) the same work ethic and values that he looks for in good employees.
Then in 2020, with COVID-19, we all had to rework the way we work. We had to rethink and as a full-4-year Medical School VCOM had to find way to “keep going” which we did.

- One change we made, when faculty, staff and students returned to campus was to request cleaning and sanitizing 7 days per week. JAN-PRO Cleaning & Disinfecting made that happen.
- A second change was to add a 4-hour M – F day porter service to roam the building and constantly wipe down/sanitize high touch surfaces. JAN-PRO Cleaning & Disinfecting made that happen, too.
- That’s where Jamie Anderson stepped in and would roam constantly throughout our main building from 10AM – 2PM wiping door handles, countertops, banisters, anything and everything.
- Jamie would finish at 2PM, go home and get a few hours rest and be back that night to perform and supervise his regular nightly duties.
- Working days, Jamie got to know us and we him. His efforts to help us battle COVID and stay healthy did NOT go unnoticed.
In summary, I would say that each and every JAN-PRO Cleaning & Disinfecting business may be a bit different because the people that make up that business are different, but I feel very fortunate to have partnered with JAN-PRO Cleaning & Disinfecting [in the Western Carolinas] because Tony, Tan, Jamie and the whole crew take pride in the work they do; even though it is often a thankless job. But VCOM values partnering with businesses rather than just “contracting” with them. We consider our JAN-PRO Cleaning & Disinfecting partners here as part of the VCOM family.”
