Janitorial Cleaning in Long Island: The Microfiber Advantage

Posted on November 10, 2017

From microwaves to cell phones, new technologies have made almost every aspect of everyday life easier and more efficient over the past hundred years. This is especially true in the cleaning industry, where new technologies have brought us vacuums, disinfectants, and one of the most revolutionary cleaning technologies – microfiber. The microfiber cloths we use at JAN-PRO® of Greater New York allow us to provide Long Island facilities with janitorial services that are more efficient, more effective, and safer, leading to higher-quality cleaning results overall.

How Microfiber Helps Janitorial Cleaning in Long Island

The main difference between microfiber cloths and traditional cloths some janitorial cleaning services in Long Island use is the size of the fibers woven together to make up the cloths. Where traditional cloths are woven using large fibers of nylon or cotton, microfiber cloths are made up of fibers 1/16 the size of a human hair. Just some of the advantages of using cloths woven with such small fibers include:

  • Antibacterial cleaning. Traditional cloths work by dragging across surfaces, collecting particles of dirt and dust as they go. While these cloths provide a certain level of clean, their large fibers can’t penetrate surfaces or collect small particles of dirt, dust, and bacteria. In contrast, because the fibers in microfiber cloths are so small, they attach onto and collect much smaller particles of bacteria, as well as dirt and dust. They penetrate surfaces for deeper cleaning, removing up to 99% of bacteria from surfaces whereas traditional cloths only remove 30% of bacteria.
  • Greener cleaning. Because microfiber cloths can remove 99% of bacteria on their own, by using these cloths to deliver our janitorial cleaning services to Long Island-area facilities, we can clean using fewer harsh chemicals. This helps keep workers safer and healthier while contributing to a greener earth.
  • More effective cleaning. An added advantage of the microfiber cloths we use when delivering our janitorial cleaning services to Long Island facilities is that, when the fibers in our cloths rub together, they become positively charged. This positive charge acts as a magnet for negatively-charged dust particles, drawing them in and trapping them in our cloth’s weaving for more effective cleaning.
